What are the eligibility Criteria for CA (Chartered Accountant) admission?

In order to ensure that applicants fulfil the necessary qualifications and satisfy the eligibility criteria for admission to the Chartered Accountant (CA) program, candidates must first fulfil the requirements.

Eligibility Criteria for CA Foundation:

The eligibility criteria for CA Foundation cover a range of requirements including educational qualifications, age limits, and registration procedures. These make sure that prospective chartered accountants meet the requirements before they begin their career.

  • Educational Qualification:

The candidate needs to have passed the test from a recognized institute or board and overall score of a candidate in the 12th or 10th exam had to score at least 50%.

  • Streams of Study:

The class 10th exam or an equivalent exam from any board recognized by the state or local government is required of applicants for the CA foundation exam.

If a candidate has passed the class 12th exams or is enrolled in class 12th, they may register for the CA Foundation exam.

  • Age Limit:

There is no upper age limit for applicants to the CA Foundation course. Applications are accepted from all age groups.

Eligibility Criteria for CA Inter:

There are two ways to enroll in the CA Intermediate Course for a candidate: the Foundation Route or the Direct Entry Route.

  • Foundation Route:

Students after clearing the Foundation Examination with minimum 50% marks become eligible to register for the CA Inter course.

  • Direct Route:

Registration for the Intermediate Course through the Direct Entry Route is open to graduates and post-graduates in the field of commerce (minimum 55% marks), graduates and post-graduates in fields other than commerce (minimum 60% marks), and intermediate level passed candidates of the Indian Institute of Company Secretaries and Indian Institute of Cost Accountants.

Eligibility Criteria for CA Final:

Students who have successfully completed the CA Intermediate course and undergone a two-year internship training program under the supervision of a certified chartered accountant—which guarantees they obtain important practical experience in the field—are eligible for the CA Final course.

Documents Required for CA Admission

  • A certified copy of the class 10th or 12th exam's mark sheet or admit card from the relevant board.

  • Nationality proof for international students.

  • A certified copy of any relevant special Category Certificates (SC/ST, OBC, Disabled Candidate etc.).

  • A certified copy of the class 10th Mark-sheet or Admit Card, verifying the name and birth-date.

  • One current color photo, to be attached to the printout of the successfully completed online registration form.

  • It is necessary to have the verified marks-sheet from CA IPCC (For CA Inter and CA Final).

  • CA Foundation/CPT Marksheet (If Not Applying Directly for CA Inter and CA Final).

Steps to Register for CA Admission:

These procedures must be followed by new candidates in order to register through the Student Service Portal (SSP):

  1. Visit the official website of ICAI https://www.icai.org/

  2. Now, there is a section at the top of the website where a column named e-Services is present, click on E-SERVICES.

  3. Select “Students Services” and click on “Self Service Portal”.

  4. After clicking on it, an option “New Foundation and Intermediate (Direct Entry) Form” will appear. You'll be taken to the login form as a result.

  5. If you are an existing student then you can login with User ID or Password.

  6. If you are a fresh candidate, you should click on “First Time User (New Student)? Click Here”.

CA Admission Process Fees 2024

ICAI CA Foundation Registration June 2024:

Fee for Indian Students (Rs): The fee for Indian students amounts to Rs. 9800. All relevant fees are included in this charge. Indian students are required to pay this amount at the time of admission to secure their enrollment in the academic program.

Fee for Foreign Students ($): For international students, the cost is $780. Tuition, administrative expenses and any other relevant fees are covered by this charge. In order to verify their enrollment and expedite the processing of their visa, international students must send this money before the start of their academic program.
