Is Company Secretary Really Tough?

Becoming a Company Secretary (CS) is very tough, but it is not impossible. This course requires a good educational background, a specific qualification, and a certain set of abilities. The difficulties of becoming a CS depend on one’s experience, background, and dedication to pursuing the course. 

For becoming a Company secretary, students need to pass three different levels, which are the CS Executive Entrance Exam, CS Executive, and CS Professional.

The level of difficulty of CS depends on the level of preparation, and how familiar you are with the exams.

How tough is CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET):

The First and most important step to becoming a CS is to pass the CS Executive Entrance Test. This test is conducted by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) four times a year: January, May, July, and November. It is an online MCQ based question paper that consists four subjects in a single day.

It is crucial to understand the exam format. It has no negative markings. In order to pass CSEET, student have to get at least 40% marks in each subject and an overall aggregate of 50%.

The syllabus of CSEET comprises of the following four parts:

·  Part 1: Business Communication (50 Marks)

.  Part 2: Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude (70 Marks)

.  Sub-part A - Legal Aptitude (30 Marks)

.  Sub-part B - Logical Reasoning (20 Marks)

.  Sub-part C – Quantitative Aptitude (20 Marks)

·  Part 3: Economic and Business Environment (50 Marks)

·  Sub-part A – Economics (25 Marks)

.  Sub-part B – Business Environment (25 Marks)

.  Part 4 Current Affairs (30 Marks)

How tough is a CS Executive?

This is the second stage of becoming a Company secretary and this exam will be held in offline mode at their exam centers.

Also, in this course 20 percent and 80 percent of the questions are objective and descriptive respectively except in paper 4 because in this paper all questions are of the descriptive type.

In order to pass the CS Executive exam, students need to get at least 40% on each of the Module I and Module II individual papers. They also have to keep their total cumulative score across all papers at least 50%.

The Student has only 9 months to clear the CS Executive Exam. So, a maximum of one month should be allocated to each subject.

·  How tough is CS Professional?

This is the final stage of the CS journey. This course lasts ten months and is only open to students who have passed the CS Executive Exam. There are a total of two modules, which have 7 subjects. In the first module, students have to choose one elective paper out of 4 papers, as well as in group 2 students also have to choose one elective paper out of 5 papers.

 Is Company Secretary hard or easy?

There are some reasons why CS is hard:

·   In this CS syllabus has more theoretical. It is very difficult to memorize when you have a lot of syllabus to read.

·   The syllabus is extensive.

·   Study is mandatory if you want to cover the full syllabus at the time of the exam.

·   Many students face subject related difficulties

·   CS Executive is more difficult as compared to the CS professional exam.

·   In the professional course, you have no holiday between the exams.
