How many attempts are allowed for the CA Exams? 

There is restriction on the number of attempts for appearing in  CA Foundation Exam, CA inter Exam and CA final Exams. Candidates are allowed to appear the CA exam during the duration of their registration term. Candidates must re-register in order to take the CA exam once the registration peri od has ended. The only restriction imposed by the ICAI is that candidates may only fill the exam form if the registration period is valid.

Also, Candidates must re- register if their CA registration got expired. Candidates must pay the necessary fees in order to have their registrations re - registered.

Note* As per the notification issued by ICAI on 24th April 2024 CA Foundation and Intermediate exams will be conducted thrice in a year i.e. in the month of May/June, September and January and CA Final exams will continue to be held twice in a year in the month of May and November. This Schedule has been changed because of the New announcement.

For instance, the registration period is valid for 4 years, and upto 12 attempts are allowed, if a student fill examination form for 9 times then his 9 attempts will be counted. Also, he has to re-register by paying necessary registrations Fees.

You can skip the attempt if you are not satisfied with your preparation, but always remember the opportunity cost of skipping an attempt. So, come out of your comfort zone and face the difficulties for clearing exam. If you are not prepared for the both groups, then you can definitely go for one group but it is not a good idea to skipping the attempt.
