IBPS Clerk Salary Allowances and Perks

Special Allowance

It is 7.5 per cent of base pay and can rise from 400 to 500 rupees after a year

Dearness Allowance

INR 5,209 

This is 4% of the IBPS Clerk basic pay. It depends on the CPI and is revised quarterly after every three months.

House rent Allowances

It depends on the location of the posting

For metro cities, it is 8.5%

For cities which have a population of more than 7.5%

For other cities it is 6.5%

Travel Allowance

This is reimbursed by the bank.

Medical allowance

It is fixed at INR 2,000 annually and paid once a year.

IBPS Clerk Promotion

IBPS Clerks get various opportunities for growth in career and advancement within the banking sector. A clerk needs to serve a minimum period of 3 years, however, some banks require 2 years. Promotion is based on two different processes.

Normal Process: This process is based on experience and seniority. A written exam is conducted internally by the bank for the eligible candidates. After clearing the exam, they are promoted to the role of trainee officers and then to bank probationary officers.

Merit based/Fast Track Process: in this process, candidates must have JAIIB and CAIIB diplomas from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).
